When it comes to the topic of sensitivity for the environment, there’s no shortage of expansive writing and rhetoric – most of it sound and inspiring.

This website exists to make a vital connection between the many ongoing efforts at global consciousness-raising, and the air we actually breathe and the earth we actually walk here at Columbia University.

The fact is that for all of us members of the University community, stewardship begins on our own campuses – in our dorms, offices, dining areas, labs and lawns.

The following sections on Reducing, Reusing and Recycling offer simple, practical suggestions for participating in the stewardship effort. They’re ideas that may or may not be new to you, but in every case, can make a significant contribution to our collective effort on behalf of the Earth.

Reduce Consumption
Reuse Resources
Recycle Waste
