Window Replacement in Off-Campus Residences

Several thousand single-pane windows have been replaced with insulated windows in off-campus housing during the past 10 years. As housing units are vacated, windows are upgraded. Well over 60 percent of the windows in the 117 residential buildings in the Morningside area and near the Medical Center are the new energy-efficient windows.

All replacement windows meet or exceed current energy codes for restoration. Most are constructed of double-pane glass. In some cases, the University’s historic buildings require specially refurbished glass, sashes or rails to make them weather tight.
